Sweetie Mama was one of our most beloved cats here in Safety Harbor. For nearly three years, I fed her and watched her thrive at an industrial site she called home. She was the mother of 26 cats and the heart of one of our largest colonies. Whenever you pulled up, she’d come running to the car, ready for pets and love.

Sweetie Mama recently passed away from a cancerous growth. Not going to lie — this one hurts. She was close to all of our hearts, and her loss is deeply felt.

We want to honor Sweetie Mama’s memory by continuing the work she inspired.

Cats of Safety Harbor is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a TNVR organization — TNVR stands for Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return, the globally recognized way to humanely and ethically reduce feral cat populations. We call them community cats.

Since starting, we’ve stabilized our local cat population and rescued over 1,500 cats. With fewer than 10 dedicated volunteers, we manage the health and diets of our colonies so they can live out their lives in peace and safety. These cats are a big part of our community — and a symbol of resilience here in Safety Harbor.
