In Memory of Seth Thomas

Seth Thomas, was a brilliant, caring, musically and poetically gifted individual who led his life in service of his friends and family, communities both here and abroad, and most of all, he led his life in service of God. These efforts took him to many different countries, touched many different lives, and put him into medical school where he would become a leader.

Seth was working abroad in Peru for a medical program through Augusta University when he went for a hike Friday afternoon in the Andes Mountains. Seth had a profound faith and wanted to hike to see a cross atop a nearby mountain in Cusco. It was on this journey to see this monument to God that tragically Seth was lost as he encountered treacherous terrain. 

To the Thomas Family, we love you and want you to know that the School of Medicine mourns with you. The joy of knowing your son brought light and energy into all of our lives. 

This GoFundMe is an effort to offset all of the costs in the coming days for the Thomas family as Seth is returned home and laid to rest. We know it isn't much, but we can at least take off some of the burdens -- or bear our own cross -- for them in the coming days. There may be untold costs to getting his body home and buried, so anything you can add or even if you just share his story would be greatly appreciated. 

I will add to this with more later. If anyone would like to contact me to make changes or additions I will be glad to.  Seth and I were friends and colleagues. We worked closely as class officers together to better the student experiences at the USC School of Medicine. He was always thinking how he could help people and I will endeavor to live the rest of my days with as much integrity as I can to match the way he lived his.
