In Memory of Roman.

On the 17th of October 2021 at 7:55am our baby boy, Roman Miles Whitelaw, was born sleeping.

He entered our world and instantly brought happiness and love like a shining star in the night sky.

It is sadly now that we realise just how often this happens to parents. Unbelievably, 15 babies die everyday in the UK before, during and after childbirth. It is thanks to charities like 4Louis and the staff such as those at the RVI delivery suite that parents, like ourselves, are able to gain the needed support and create treasured memories.

Whilst in hospital we received the most amazing care. It was through the midwife’s that they introduced us to the charity 4Louis.

4Louis provided us with a beautiful memory box, the midwifes helped us get the most out of this following Romans birth. The box contained many items and allowed us to capture Romans hands, feet and photos. Two teddies, one for Roman and one for us, along with other cherished memories.

We will always remember leaving the hospital without our son as one of our life’s saddest moments but in time this box will give us great comfort.

Now we begin to think about how we would like to give back, to help 4Louis and the staff at the RVI Delivery Suite to support families who find themselves in the same tragic situation we are in.

We have contacted the Bereavement Midwife at the RVI to ask what we could do to best support the staff and the families for whom they care for. Today we will call 4Louis to discuss how we can best support their needs too.

We are thankful for anything anyone can donate, be it large or small. Everything raised by this page will support other families going through one of life’s most cruel and painful experiences.
