In Memory of Raouda Ahmat

Donation protected
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend, beloved sister and mother, Raouda Ahmat, 37.

Raouda was a strong woman who radiated warmth. The moment she saw a loved one (of which she had many) her eyes would light up and her face would burst into an enormous, stunning smile. It was infectious. In the next instant, you’d be wrapped in her arms, swept up in her affection. She will be remembered for the ease with which she laughed, her persistent optimism and sense of humor. While Raouda was working hard to learn English, she didn’t need a common language to connect with people. Raouda loved freely, and you couldn’t help loving her. Raouda will live forever in our hearts.

Raouda’s children: Ibrahim, 12, Zara, 8, and Abakar, 5, were the loves of her life. She found great joy in being their mom. Her devotion to them was evident in everything she did. Raouda was known to walk miles to her job at Rock Creek restaurant. She’d finish after midnight and still return home on foot- all to provide for her kids. Family was very important to Raouda. She had a close relationship with her brother and sister-in-law, Habib & Teiba, who also reside in Twin Falls. She cherished spending time with them and the numerous friends she made in her new community. Raouda’s kind spirit invited all those she cared for, blood relation or not, to be her family.

Raouda and her children resettled in Twin Falls in February 2017. Raouda and her family are Masalit refugees from Darfur, Sudan. While many of Raouda's loved ones were thousands of miles away, they were always close to her in spirit. When they arrived, several caring people came forward from the community to support Raouda and her children in transitioning to their new lives. She treasured these relationships.

We invite all those who were touched by Raouda’s loving nature to come together to support her children in this difficult time. Raouda’s priority in life was ensuring their well-being. We aim to  honor her wishes through this fundraising effort. Your kindness & generosity will be used to fulfill (3) objectives:

1.) Help the children settle comfortably into their new home with relatives. The family taking in the kids do not presently have children at home so extra help is required to accomodate Raouda's young children.  (Examples: food/groceries, beds, clothing)
2.) Ensure the children THRIVE despite the painful loss of their beloved mother and only parent. (Examples: school supplies, kid's soccer registration fees)
3.) Cover funeral expenses for Raouda to alleviate the immediate family of any related financial burden

THANK YOU in advance for your gift! EVERY contribution makes a huge difference and is sincerely appreciated.
