The background story

Mischelle Johnson started with WildBlue in 2006 as a Technical Process Specialist for Customer Care. As we eventually became Viasat, Mischelle was known as the go-to-person for just about anything related to Care systems and processes. Rather than ask how something was done, Mischelle had to learn for herself, which made her the overall Care subject-matter-expert – whether it was billing, data, telephony, social networking, modems, eSVT, or technical – Mischelle had a working knowledge about it and was always willing and ready to help anyone!

Outgoing, funny and crazy-fun to be around!
Mischelle loved to eat and was known for loving her hotter than hot hot-sauce on popcorn, ribs, chicken!  Just about everything she ate wasn’t edible until it was smothered in hot sauce! If anyone walked into Care early in the morning and smelled the aroma of BBQ ribs, it was a sure bet that Mischelle was gobbling her breakfast at her desk! It was also a common sight to see (and hear!) Mischelle crunching on her cucumbers, lettuce or celery during meetings!

Mischelle’s silent struggle for life
It was early in 2017 when Mischelle began secretly feeling increasingly weak and ill.
She was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Mischelle fought the illness with determination and courage, but the disease eventually  took its toll.

Early Sunday morning, January 14, 2018, with her long-time boyfriend, Saubia at her side, Mischelle passed away.

Born November 23, 1970
Mischelle was born in Chicago, as the youngest of nine sibilings. She had three sisters and six brothers. Her family moved to Colorado and she received top honors as an ITT Graduate in Technical Engineering. Michelle has 4 sons and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michelle is sadly missed by all at Viasat, where she had alot  friends throughout the company.

A call for help
After Mischelle left Viasat, she was no longer covered by health insurance. Given the number of times she arrived at the hospital via ambulance and the extensive times she spent in the hospital, the medical bills continued to mount.

Mischelle’s family is not only trying to deal with the death of a daughter, mother, sister, aunt and life partner, they are also overwhelmed with medical and funeral expenses.

"The greatest gift in life is friendship"
(Hubert H. Humphrey)

Everyone who knew Mishcelle is being asked to help her family by donating anything you can.  Large or small donations are welcome and apprecited by the family. The money donated will be used directly for the immediate expenses in paying for Mischelle's funeral, services and of course, medical costs.
