In Memory of Mike: Support His Loved Ones

Hello, my name is David Keenan, and I am raising funds on behalf of Michael Montez’s family.

Over the past year, I had the privilege of spending most of my time with Mike. I feel truly honored to have been alongside such a selfless, caring, and incredible human being. Although much of our time together was work-related, it never felt like work. Mike had a charm and charisma that naturally drew people to him. His wonderful personality, soulful laugh, and yes, even his infamous “dad jokes,” made him unforgettable. To me, he became more than a friend—he became a brother.

On January 16th, we tragically lost our dear friend Michael Montez. Mike was the kind of person who would genuinely give you the shirt off his back if you needed it—though it would likely be an alcohol-branded shirt! He was a kindhearted, loving individual who left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. As the 90’s commercial said so perfectly, “If I could be like Mike.”

One memory that stands out to me is from our first trip together for work. Mike arrived with two suitcases. I offered to help carry one and noticed it was surprisingly light. Curious, I asked him if it was empty. He nodded with a smile and explained, “That way I can fill it with things I buy for my family.”

That simple gesture spoke volumes about who Mike was—a man who always put others before himself, especially his family.

Mike’s family was his North Star. Every conversation we had seemed to circle back to them. Every decision he made prioritized their well-being. His hard work, dedication, and generosity were all driven by his love for them.
