Over 11 years ago, Kristina received one of the greatest gifts one can receive when an unknown family suffering through an unimaginable tragedy donated their child's lungs so she could have a second chance at life. From that point forward, she did not waste a single moment of her newfound life.
Alongside her husband, Paul, Kristina became a tireless proponent of organ donation while raising her son and daughter, Jake and Tatum. She was a Mentor at the Lung Transplant Foundation and a Support Group Administrator at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina. All who knew her will never forget her indomitable spirit and her adopted rallying cry of "Just Breathe..."
Heartbreakingly, Kristina lost her second life on February 21, 2018. The family will forever be grateful for the time they were able to spend with her thanks to the incredible healthcare she received throughout the years up to her final moments. Unfortunately, the family has been left with many hospital expenses which will not be covered by their health insurance.
