In Memory of Joseph "Jay" Calhoun

This page was created so that we can honor Jay P. Calhoun in a manner that is fitting for the man he was. Jay was real, he was funny, he hurt, he loved and for all those reasons made us love him even more....Jay was Jay .
He was a dedicated family man as family meant more to Jay than anything, and if you were his friend he considered you family. His final share was "A child doesn't have to be biologically yours for you to love them like your own." Jay was always there to help as a handyman, electrician and an incredible chef..... even if it was out camping, he could turn a couple duck eggs into a breakfast buffet.
He would make us smile, make us laugh, sometimes make us cry or frustrate us, but he sure would be there when we needed him. It isn't often that Jay would let us help him or give him the things that he needed. We find comfort in knowing that over the last couple years Jay had found help in the Lord.
So many people have asked over the last couple of days how they can help, what can we do, what is needed and honestly there are still so many unknowns. Giving Jay the proper farewell in a manner that is simple loving and honorable is why we started this page. Any additional funds beyond Jays final expenses the family has decided they would go to a family near and dear to Jay's heart. This would no doubt have Jay smiling in heaven, helping a friend out just one more time.
Although we are grieving inside the stories pictures and memories have helped bring some peace. Thank you for all the continued messages and love from everyone for it means so much.
