In Memory of Joe Yule... Returning Zane to Health

As we navigate and mourn the loss of Joe, while simultaneously celebrating his life, it is clear his influence was far-reaching and permanent.

A true legend, many who never even met Joe are familiar with his brilliant work, his folklore- level cycling-related injuries and the permanent imprint he made in the South Bay and the global cycling community at large, through his art and his love of the sport.

Those of us who knew him personally were fortunate to also experience firsthand his generous spirit, his gentle soul and his passionate heart. Joe will be sorely and deeply missed.

In light of this devastating loss, many have reached out to the family, asking what they can do to help during this time.

As many of you know, Joe left behind his loyal best friend Zane, an 8 year old chocolate lab. We brought Zane home when he was a mere 7 weeks old, tiny as can be. From the first moment he crossed the threshold, he was completely inseparable from Joe... Following him everywhere, sitting in his lap while Joe worked (even long after his size reasonably allowed), and waiting for Joe at the front window until he returned from his rides. Always ready for adventure, as long as he was by Joe's side, Zane has long been Joe's constant companion. Steadfast in his devotion, Zane remained loyal in joyful and difficult times, offering comfort without fail.

Upon Zane being recovered after Joe's passing (he is now being lovingly cared for by Joe's brother Scott and his wife Karen), it was discovered that Zane is in need of medical care to return him to good health.

We ask that anyone looking to make a contribution in Joe's memory, show their support by helping to bring Zane back to good health. Zane's current vet bills are estimated to be between $5,000-$7,500.

Any excess funds will be donated in Joe's memory to Building Hope Summit County, an organization offering mental and emotional health support for everyone in Summit County, the county in which Joe resided.
