On April 9th 2018, 3 year old Jasper drowned in his neighbors pool. As with most of us parents, they thought they did everything right to keep their child safe, never did they think this would happen. In just a short moment, Jasper disappeared, unnoticed and went through the unlocked door of his neighbors garage to go on the slide he seen through the fence, which he did not know led to a pool. Jasper drowned in the water sitting on top of the pool cover. The family, frantic, called the police to report him missing, the police immediately searched the house with no success. CPR efforts were immediately started once Jasper was found but were unsuccessful.
We as parents never think about the unknown, drowning is an epidemic, it’s the leading cause of accidental death in children under 5, it is preventable.
Water is tempting and unforgiving!
Drowning is fast and it is silent!
Proper fences, barriers, alarms and covers can be lifesaving devices!
A fence of at least four feet in height should surround the pool or spa on all sides and should not be climbable for children!
The water should only be accessible through a self-closing, self-latching gate!
The covers should be in good working order!
It is your duty as a pool owner to keep your pool safe!
NO POOL SHOULD BE EASILY ACCESSIBLE TO A CHILD.
Yesterday a very loved 3 year old child drowned, a family is left broken. They need our prayers and they need our help. As a mom that lost her son to drowning and as an advocate for water safety and drowning prevention I’m asking that in addition to prayers everyone please donate and share so this family can give him a beautiful resting place.
