Words by Melinda "Mindy" Sauer Summers:
August 17, 2018 was like any typical Friday morning. My husband had worked the night shift and I had the car, so our oldest daughter and myself went  and picked him up. We ran a couple errands, as our oldest needed just a couple more things for her dorm to move back to campus  on Sunday. We all laughed, joked around and listened to music. We got home, brought in the groceries, and as everyday he did, my husband gave our dogs their treats. I told him to sit with me at the table so we could take our medications and talk over coffee. All of a sudden he collapsed on our kitchen floor. Our daughter called 911 as I began CPR, though at the time we didn't know that there was nothing we could have done to save him.  At the hospital, we were told he had sudden cardiac arrest. Two days later we were told he was in Brain Death. My daughters and I stayed by his side, held his hand and kissed his cheek, as we had to say our final goodbyes. Nothing in this world can prepare you for the heartbreak that comes from someone you love dying infront of you. My husband was the strength and bread winner for our family. Because of my health I am only collecting disability as income. My daughters and I would never beg for anything, but just merely ask for a little help. I believe in my heart that my husband would understand us needing support from others, because we have nothing and all we want to do is give him the very best we can.  Anyone that knew him would know that he was an amazing person, a wonderful father, and very loving husband. His laugh, his hugs, his passion to give to others, and sense of humor was felt and embarrassed by everyone that knew him. Even in death, he continued to give to others by being an organ doner to save someone elses' life. He deserves to be remembered, respected, loved, and forever treasured. R.I.P James "Dallas" "T" Summers.
