You know the one person in your life who will always stand up for you but can also make you laugh until your stomach hurts? For us, that was Dave. While he was with us he never failed to lend a hand and when he wasn’t able to anymore it was time for us to do it for him. He was diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer on March 1st, 2020 and underwent treatment right away. With the help of rehabilitation in order to regain his strength he began to recover. For a while Dave wasn’t able to physically help himself and his family were the ones by his side. His wife of 18 years Pamela Long and 4 children Ariella (16), Tabitha (26), Joseph (21) and Scott (36). Alongside his daughter Tabitha, came his grandsons Jayden, and Bryson. Whenever around them Dave’s eyes lit up and he couldn’t help but play with them. Dave was one of five siblings, he grew up with his brother Glenn and three sisters Heather, Melanie and Robin who all love him dearly.

After a long and painful recovery, around July we started to notice Dave was doing more on his own. He was back to his shenanigans which included his drives to burger king and sneakily playing the lottery thinking his wife Pamela didn’t know. But when he wasn’t being a criminal he and his sister Heather took a ride down to Tony’s pizzeria in Marblehead to keep Pam company during her shift. Dave would sit there all night until they could leave together. Just when things seemed to be at rest, unfortunately David had contracted the coronavirus in early November. He was later admitted to the hospital on November 19th due to complications. With his pre-existing conditions we knew it was going to be a battle. The hardest part being no one was allowed to see him in person and we had to rely on technology. Eventually David was put on oxygen, and when that wasn't enough he was put on a ventilator. Unfortunately, Dave passed away on December 10th, 2020,  fighting with every last breath. Please keep Dave’s family in your prayers. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated and will go directly to his wife, Pamela Long to help with his end of life costs and future expenses.

David S. Long was someone none of us will ever forget. The way he cared for the ones he loved was unmatched. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather (cookie), brother, son, and person overall, he will be greatly missed.
