In memory of Daniel Yves Mugisho

It is with deep sadness that we are announcing the passing of my beloved brother Yves. Yves was with his friends at Mooney's Bay on Saturday, September 18th, 2021. His friend called the emergency responders to report a missing swimmer after they could not find him. After an extensive search, the water rescue crew found his body, and our family was notified of the tragic news.

Yves was a healthy young man with a lot of potentials. He was planning to pursue higher education and had received admission at the Carleton University in Ottawa. His friends knew him as a person of a very calm demeanor, and a contagious smile.

Words cannot describe how I'm feeling right now. I am mad, sad, confused, angry, and asking myself why??? Feeling so powerless, knowing there is nothing I can do to bring you back or have one more day with you… Bro, wherever you are, I want to let you know that I love you, man, and always will.

As kids we were inseparable, doing everything together, the long bike rides with the neighborhood kids, the long walks in winter just to play ball cause we had no bus tickets. Remember all the summer camps we went to and had the best time of our lives. We spent hours at night talking about anything and everything even though we had school the following day. Remember when you taught me how to play basketball, but I became a better baller than you . You were always that smart guy that never studied but always passed with good grades; I was like, how??? You had a significant impact on my life and the lives of many people. You were always smiling and laughing but also a quiet person.

Although you have passed, these memories will stay with me forever. You may be gone, but your memory will live on forever through me, the family, and your friends. Rest In Peace, little brother.
