In Memory of Brandon Willette

Brandon left us entirely too soon, on 9 May 2021. He had a gentle and compassionate soul that was, unfortunately, riddled with emotional struggles. Like so many young people today, he struggled with a lack of self-esteem and a need for acceptance. He was desperately searching to find value in his life.

Brandon was intelligent and loved to be challenged. He taught himself to play the guitar, and he always pushed himself to excel at his favorite pastime: skateboarding. Brandon also had a way with animals.  He had a calm, patient demeanor that put them to ease around him, even when he was a little boy.

He was loved so very much by so many, but he lacked confidence and constantly doubted himself.  He had a difficult time fitting in, and he had worked daily to overcome these struggles.

Last year, he finally found a job where he felt valued, and he made a couple of friends he cherished.  It seemed as though things were starting to improve, then hit a bump in the road and his life spiraled out of control.  While the odds had always been against him, this time, he was unable to fend off his demons.

Brandon‘s compassion for others never wavered. He would always help people in need, and when he was able, he did everything in his power to help them gain a little financial stability.

To honor Brandon’s memory and continue his legacy of compassion, I am asking that you please consider making a donation in lieu of flowers or gifts.  Your contribution can help those individuals who are struggling with addiction find a safe place to live after they are discharged from a rehabilitation facility.

When people leave rehab, they may be clean, but their immediate future is tenuous. Often, the struggle to find a safe place to live is daunting. Typically, they have no money and no job, and if they have lost family support, they lose all hope. This can cause such debilitating despair and so much stress that the person relapses back into their addiction.

Please help us, help them to break the cycle. Getting sober is difficult in and of itself. Taking the financial burden off of a person recovering from an addiction, even just for one month, can make all the difference in the world. It can give them a fresh start. Your donations will help by giving people the time they desperately need to attend support meetings, seek counseling, and find employment while giving them a safe place to lay their heads.

We will be working with reputable sober houses to help facilitate this. Your donations will help keep our beautiful Brandon’s memory alive. We hope to be able to make this the beginning of a foundation in Brandon’s name.

Thank you,

Kathleen Shea and Steven Willette
