In Memory of Alex Litwinek

Donation protected
As you know, on Saturday 26 February, Alex Litwinek tragically and suddenly collapsed, doing what he loved; running. He was on a country trail near his home in North Lantau at the time. Despite the efforts of a number of his fellow trail runners and the emergency services who were called to the scene, Alex sadly passed away. We are blessed in the knowledge that Alex was not alone at the time and that he was well cared for during his final moments with us.

Alex leaves behind his wife, Cleo and two beautiful children Frankie (3.5 years old) and Ludo (2 years old). As many of you know, Frankie was born with multiple congenital heart defects and spent her first months fighting for her life. The good news is she won that fight with the support of the Paediatric Cardiology department at Queen Mary Hospital, which has since been relocated to the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, and Frankie continues to be a regular visitor of.

So many people have reached out to ask how they might support the family in the midst of this difficult time and a fundraising opportunity was suggested. Having discussed with Cleo, she could think of nothing more comforting than the thought of Alex’s friends and colleagues coming together to raise money for the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, as their expertise and dedication ensured Frankie has a second chance at life.

Our hearts go out to Alex’s family at this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and please help us honour his memory by supporting the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital and the many children and their families who pass through its doors.

Thank you all.
