In Memoriam of Patricia Reidl

For those who knew our Mom, you may have known her by many different names...  Patricia, Aunt Pat, Peppermint Patty (she always had peppermints in her purse)...  For those who knew her, they knew she was a strong, loving, passionate, laughing, dancing, talkative, and compassionate woman.  She would give everything of herself to help our family, friends, and even strangers.  She befriended everyone she met with her charming smile, down home nature, and inner glow of kindness.

One of her favorite things to do was dance and she had the go-go boots of the 60's to prove it.  She started this as a child, as a teen, as a young bride, as a sister, aunt, and mother.  Wedding after wedding our Mom would dance with everyone and be the life of the party.  One of her favorite songs to sing and dance to was dedicated to her by my Father (Edward) and it was Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl".

In 2011, our Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. Doctors had given her a 25% chance to live 5 years. Bravely she fought through multiple bouts of chemo, radiation, and microwaves to fight the cancer and COPD.  Sadly, on June 26th, 2017 at 7am our beloved Peppermint Patty lost her battle but ever the fighter she defied the odds for 6.5 years.   Her courage and strength brings tears to our eyes.

Our Mom now joins her younger brother (James Boyd Yocum) and older sister (Diana Barnes) who both passed these past 8 months in heaven.   These loving siblings are now united with their mom (our Nana) and we know they are looking down on us with love.

As those who have family, friends, or whom have battled cancer themselves know -- insurance only covers so much.   We have created this GoFundMe campaign to be used in lieu of flowers or gifts to help our father pay down some of these medical bills.

However, we also will be donating 25% of any funds to a non-for-profit organization by the name of JourneyCare. They are an amazing organization which provided support and comfort to our family and took amazing care of our Mom and our family even this week with her passing.

More important than the donations (which can of course be anonymous), we would love for our family and friends to be able to post memories about our brown eyed girl or add notes of support for our family in this difficult time. Even if you can only donate $1, we would appreciate any kind words.

We plan to close this campign on August 2nd, 2017 which would have been the 49th wedding anniversary of our parents Edward & Patricia Reidl.

With all our Love,
Lynn & Chad Reidl
