Have you ever experienced something so horrific that there are no words to describe – a moment so surreal that your entire world is shattered and forever changed? Never in their worst nightmares did the Sparber family expect to go through the tragedy they experienced on June 13th – finding their beloved husband and father dead in their home.

Backstory

The morning of the 13th started like any other. Al was a web designer and programmer, a night-owl who typically worked long, late hours developing new products for his company. Because he worked from home, it wasn’t unusual for him to sleep until mid-morning. With allergy season in full swing, this week had been especially challenging for Al to sleep through the night. That morning, his wife Carol, quietly got ready for work so she wouldn’t wake him.

Around 3:00p.m. Carol arrived home from work to find Al asleep on the couch. She thought this was odd so she went to check on him only to find his body cool and unresponsive. Her call to 9-1-1 fueled an adrenaline surge. She tried everything she could to resuscitate him and bring him back to life, but Al was gone. One by one the children came home to shockingly find their loving father deceased on the couch in their home.

“There is nothing in the world that can describe the instant pain and heartbreak that entered my body the second I heard my father had passed. The 50-minute commute home was an entire blur and all I  remember is walking in the door and seeing my mom in tears.” - Melanie, Al’s youngest daughter

Carol and Al both worked hard to support their family. However, Al's business was the primary source of income in their home. With his sudden passing it means that the cash flow to pay bills and make the mortgage payment has stopped . Unfortunately, Al and Carol had not yet put a plan in place that would support the family's needs if either of them were to pass suddenly. Al's motto was that he would “work until the day he died” but unfortunately that day came unexpectedly and all too soon. The anguish and turmoil the Sparber family is experiencing with the unexpected loss of their husband and father is more than anyone can imagine.

“Never in my life did I think I would have to go through such turmoil so young. Nothing has ever prepared me for the loss of a parent. The void I feel in my heart feels like it will never be filled again. I’ve lost my wisest friend and the one person who could understand what I was feeling with just one look.” - Melanie
