In Loving Memory of Tai

Donation protected
With permission of the Caverhill family we have created this campaign to help this family who very recently lost their beloved, and  loving, young son, Tai Caverhill, in a tragic accident at Camp Barnard on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 ( https://www.cheknews.ca/lansdowne-middle-school-student-killed-in-freak-accident-near-camp-barnard-570655/ )

Tai was one of the very first students at our local 'Thai Kids Club' and was a big brother who helped take care of the  littler ones.  Tai and his younger sister, Lanna, were born and raised by their loving parents Graham and Boom in Victoria, BC.

Tai was looking forward to starting grade 9 at Oak Bay High School in September, if it wasn't for tragic consequence of having a tree coming down on him while he and his group of friends were exploring nature and at the 'end of a middle school' school camping trip with his Landsdowne Middle School French Immersion class.

Tai and one other of the group were closest to trees when they began to come down and called out to warn the others. Sadly Tai was  unable to save himself and got pinned under a large part of one of the falling trees.

Tai's kindness, charisma, and caring for others significantly touched many groups of friends and families. His last words to his mum before he left to Camp Barnard was "Take care of Lanna and Dad for me".

Recently Tai started working at a local restaurant, 'Little Thai Place'  to earn extra income. Tai wanted to be more independent and take responsibility for some of his own expenses as he knew that his parents looked after many things including ongoing medical bills and treatments for Lanna and his father. Tai's sister was diagnosed in utero with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) - a rare genetic disorder. Lanna had brain surgery in 2018 to help cut down some of the many seizures she was experiencing - one of the many issues that come along with TSC. Tai's father also has ongoing health concerns.

Tai's mother, hit very hard by the loss of her first born, has had to close her home daycare business temporarily as she deals with funeral arrangements and the deep grief that comes with such loss.

We know Tai greatly appreciates your generosity to help ease his family's burdens.  To honor Tai's kind heart, and support of his sister, a portion of  funds received will go to the Tuberous Sclerosis Canada to support research into this rare genetic disorder that affects so much in the bodies and lives of those with it.

The Caverhill family thank you very much for your overwhelming support.
