RODNEY (ROD) DALE SWANSON
❤Oct. 9, 1951 - Dec. 30, 2020❤

On the bittersweet morning of the 30th at 01:44am, a beautiful life came to an end. It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce that Rodney has passed and left this earth quickly and unexpectedly at Rideout Hospital. He was undoubtedly the most genuine, caring man with the biggest heart. Whenever he saw a need, he rose to meet it. Rodney's joy for life was contagious and he was either smiling, laughing or trying to make you do the same. He was also a one-of-a-kind, great businessman who had a love for all things computer-related, in which he loved serving and helping many throughout his 35 years in business as the Owner-Operator of THE COMPUTER WORKS. He was a jack of all trades and someone whom you could trust. Rodney was not only a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was a son, brother, nephew, cousin and a truly amazing friend loved by all. All who had the privilege of knowing him will surely feel this enormous loss. Our lives will never be the same.

Rodney leaves behind his beloved wife, Debbie, son Steven (Rae Swanson), daughter Amanda (Daniel Davis), his five deeply adored grandchildren, Brian, Steven, Sierrah, Rodney Dean, and Raeven, as well as his parents, Dale (Judy Swanson), Rosalyn (Mose Mastelotto), brother Michael, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Rodney was deeply loved and will be missed by his friends, peers (Gridley High, Class of 1970), and most importantly by his family.

Please consider helping his loved ones through this difficult time as they begin to fathom navigating this tragedy, as Rodney was the sole provider for his wife and surely had no idea that when he left home the early afternoon of the 28th via ambulance with pain (confirmed heart attack) that he would never return, nor see his loved ones again. After going in to have a stent put in, he rallied for a few hours and was just fine. Sadly, 3hrs later, he went into cardiac arrest and then spent the next 27hrs fighting to live. In the end, he was too weak after a very long 13hr open heart bypass surgery that his lungs could not stay oxygenated. He was then released from his physical body. As quickly as it all happened, we are thankful to know that he is now pain-free, perfect in body/mind and at perfect peace. All who had the privilege of knowing him will surely feel this enormous loss. Our lives will never be the same. As we know, nothing is more painful in this world than losing someone you love so dearly but he has left us with some wonderful memories that will never fade from our hearts. His love is with us all, forever. Rest in Peace, Rodney!

If you feel so led, give if you can, and please share this post with your friends and family. We would also appreciate it if you could send up a prayer or pass on some positive vibes for those he left behind. So it is with the deepest gratitude that, we as a family, thank you in advance for all for your love, support, prayers, kind words and any donations given during this wildly unexpected time of loss.

Sharing this will also help us to get the word out to his extended family, long-time friends, school peers and customers alike (all of whom we do not have direct contact with) of his untimely passing. This is because, as of this moment, we do not intend to post anything in the local newpaper. We know that Rodney was surely loved and enjoyed by so many within our local communities. We've already heard many stories of how he was more than just a great computer guy and that he was an all-around great human being who will be deeply missed by all.

At this moment, there is no memorial service scheduled but instead a Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future. More details will be shared again, once plans are finalized, for those who desire to attend.  If you knew Rodney (Rod) and you have a great story to share about him, please do so here. We would love to hear them.  Thank you!
