<div>Hi and thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. My name is Melissa, and I’m a local realtor in Houston, TX. Last year, on November 24, 2024, I experienced the traumatic loss of my precious Black Lab, Roxanne. She was everything that completed my life. For 15 years, she was there. She was there when I became a police officer. She was there when I left police work for real estate. When I got my Bachelor's degree. When I got my Master's. When I bought my first home. When I bought my second one. Through the very best times, and the very worst. She was always there. Roxanne was more than I can explain in this short story. The world never deserved her, and so often, neither did I.

<div>I wish you all could have known my Roxanne. She was the perfect light to everyone who met her. She had her own couch in our house. It was just her and I against the world. In my imagination, Roxanne would live forever. For years I lied to myself that I'd ever have to be without her. She was healthy and loved life. She was a puppy at heart till her passing day.

<div>Since that day, I made a commitment to her. A promise I will not break. That I would do something to honor her by helping other animals that this evil world does not deserve. And to ensure that everyone this campaign reaches would know just how special my Roxanne was and is.

<div>On this day, October 22, 2025, Roxanne would have been 16 years old. I am launching this on her birthday.

<div>I have been in contact and made a solid commitment to the Houston SPCA (HSPCA). My goal is to raise $90,000. So I have committed 15% of all my real estate commissions to fund a new abulance in Roxanne's memory. In addition, I am asking the community to gather and help me reach my goal faster. I will be doing it with or without the help of others. But I ask, if you or someone you know is able, please consider donating to help me reach my goal, in honor of my precious girl.
