Miguel Hernandez-Bravo was an absolute amazing young man. For those who knew him, know, he had such high hopes and ambitions. He was attending college in hopes of being a Psychiatrist. He loved wrestling so much and was very good at it. He was part of the Downey High School wrestling team who won two CIF Championships. He was a gentle soul, who deeply cared about his loved ones. He was truly special. He was sensitive and had a gift for helping others. He wanted to live a good life; with his big resilient heart, this is what he strived for.
This is one of Miguel's last poems:
"I've tried to stay winning since the beginning...People think I'm constantly sinning but that's not the way that I'm living...Not gonna end like my brothers in prison...Cause my life is my decision...And I got bigger dreams and better visions...It's my mission to break this curse of repetition and stop this family tradition...With every rhyme I've written feels like a new me has risen...Although at times I've fallen Imma come back with precise precision like a physician with surgic incisions..."
Sadly, Miguel's life was tragically and unexpectedly taken yesterday morning by a senseless act of violence. Today and every day to come, Miguel will be remembered as "the good one," with the biggest heart, goofy smile, and loving personality. He will be forever missed and loved.
To honor Miguel's memory, this GoFundMe account has been started in hopes of collecting donations that will cover his burial expenses. For those who can donate, the Hernandez-Bravo family greatly appreciate your generosity in this tremendously devastating time.
