In Loving Memory of Lilya & Movses Aslanyan

Donation protected
Our family is utterly devastated today, as we lost two of our youngest relatives: Movses Aslanyan, who was four years old; and his sister, Lilya, who was only three. On the night of April 18, 2022, Movses and Lilya drowned in a shallow pond in the backyard of their home, in Lake Hughes, California. My name is Azatui Karaoglanyan. I am assisting our loved ones.

Our grief and sadness are too deep to put into words. As we try to grapple with the tragic death of these two wonderful children, I am starting this fundraiser in order to help provide immediate support to their parents, Hayk Aslanyan and Gayane Balabanyan, so that they can focus on their surviving daughter, eight-year-old Astghik, and get help and services for themselves too, without having to worry about work and the resources they need urgently at this difficult time.

A very loving family, the Aslanyans moved from Armenia to the US in 2015. The two little ones were born in Los Angeles. Only about a year ago, the family moved into their first house, in Lake Hughes, and the kids were thrilled to have a huge backyard to run around and play in. Their new home was the result of their parents’ hard work. The father, Hayk, has been working literally day and night as an Uber driver. And Gayane has been a stay-at-home mom who baked at home and occasionally took orders to assist her husband.

Lilya was quiet but very independent and feisty. She resembled a life-size doll. Everyone would call her “tiknik” (doll). Movses was a deep thinker, especially for his age. He was also quite friendly. His smile would melt any heart. Movses and Lilya were truly each other’s best friends. They had two dogs, and loved playing with them all day long. On Easter Monday this year, the family’s happy life came crashing down when tragedy struck.

The death of our two beautiful angels, Movses and Lilya, has shocked us to our core.

Please help us as we try to ease the pain of their parents and sister by giving them the support that they need.
