In loving memory of Joel Harris

Dear friends and family,

As you may have heard by now, this past Wednesday, October 21, our family received devastating news that my brother, Joel R. Harris tragically passed away in a car accident.   

Those who had the pleasure to know Joel knew that he was a man who lifted up, inspired, encouraged, guided, and genuinely loved others.  He was a friend to all and lit up any room with his warm spirit.  We will miss Joel dearly and his words, laughter, courageousness, kindness, and spirit of adventure will be forever imprinted on our hearts.  

Joel had so many interests and accomplishments in his life - from serving in the Army, to most recently graduating from Pepperdine Law School and taking the California Bar Exam.   Throughout his life’s journeys, Joel met so many amazing people along the way, many whom have reached out asking how they can help.  

To this end, my family and I are creating this fundraiser for those who wish to contribute to Joel’s legacy or make a donation in his honor.   Any funds raised will be used as follows:

First, to cover funeral and burial expenses for Joel.   Second, for any amount donated in excess of the funeral and burial cost up to $10,000, we will be honoring Joel by donating to a charity pertaining to his interest (specific charity to be decided).  Finally, any donations received beyond that will be used to set up a scholarship in Joel’s name for a student reflecting Joel’s character and values. 

We love you all and thank you for the outpouring of messaging and support honoring our brother.
