In loving memory of Claudia (Nonny)

On August 28, 2018, my grandmother Claudia Zatlokowicz went in for a surgery for her Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.  The surgery that was anticipated to last 3 hours turned into 12+ hours as complications arose due to an artery being ruptured at the start of the procedure.  From here doctors and medical staff struggled to stabilize her, performing two bypasses, transfusing several pints of blood and still the initial surgery to fix the aneurysm was never completed.  Over the next few weeks, Claudia remained strong as she fought for her life.  She faced many struggles including 3 additional surgeries, kidney dialysis, breathing treatments, bed sores and infections, low blood pressure, and her heart going into AFib.  Throughout all of this she was unable to be on pain medication for an extended period of time due to her low blood pressure.  Claudia did experience a handful of good days during this time, in which she was able to talk with family members and loved ones which helped keep her strong.

 

On September 21st, the world lost an amazing, caring, and strong woman and our lives will not be the same without her.

 

We are asking for your help because my grandfather, Joseph Zatlokowicz, who spent 57 years of his life with his little “peach cookie” who he loved with all of his heart, is now faced with mounting medical bills as a result of the surgeries and the extended ICU Trauma Unit hospital stay. Please help Joseph and our family during this difficult time.
