In honor of Mark-A fund for Maddie

On January 26th, 2018, the world lost Mark Kearney, an amazing son, brother, father and friend. No matter the city (Garner, Raleigh, Durham, Sanford or Chesapeake), Mark immediately made friends with those he met and very quickly became family to them. He had a unique way of making every person in his life feel like they were the most important and special person to him. Mark took the time to connect with each and every person he met in a way that you rarely see anyone do anymore.
Terry Russell described Mark best when he said that Mark was “one of the most eminently and immediately likable guys” he had ever met. Whether you briefly met Mark or spent many hours with him, it is undeniable that he made a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to meet him. His laughter filled the room even faster than chili peppers filled the air each time Mark hand crafted a new type of hot sauce that he wanted to try.
Mark always had a smile that lit up the room when he spoke about his daughter, Madelynn Kearney. It was obvious to everyone that Maddie was his pride and joy. Mark would describe her as fun, beautiful, smart and sassy. During a long conversation with Mark about her "sass," he would gleam with pride as he described how she was becoming a strong and independent young woman. Raising Maddie to feel confident with her own ideas and opinions was very important to Mark, he wanted to be sure that Maddie knew that she was valued and respected. Mark was determined to provide Maddie with the strength and determination it would take to pave her own way in life.
Over the last few days, everyone has asked if there was anything they could do during this time of mourning of our beloved Mark prompting this fund to be set up to benefit Mark’s most prized accomplishment, his daughter, Maddie. It would make Mark so proud to know that even in his absence, we are all channeling our grief into something positive for Maddie’s future. Please consider donating to this fund in order to support and assist Maddie in her secondary education. 100% of the funds donated will go directly into an account to benefit Mark’s daughter, Madelynn.
