In Honor of Day Rose

This fundraiser is being started in honor of Day Rose.
If you know Day, you know that we, as friends, had to really twist her arm to allow us to set up this fundraiser. She is definitely not one to want to be the source of any type of burden on others. She is, and always has been, a giver – not a taker. Quite frankly, she has always found a way to help and offer more to others than she even has for herself. Now it’s our turn to give and offer HER the help that she would never ask for – but so deserves.
A little about Day’s story – In early 2008 Day was diagnosed with early stages of ovarian cancer at the age of 25.After 6 months of chemo, she underwent surgery later that year to remove the remaining portion of the mass and was given a clean bill of health in early 2009. Fast forward 12 years, Day’s cancer unfortunately continues to make an appearance. To this day, she has endured 14 surgeries and a total of 7 rounds of chemo. She has, and continues to take, a laundry list of caustic medications (with names I can barely pronounce and side effects nearly as horrific as this disease itself). One of the major side effects that has hit hard has been loss of bone density. Despite her best efforts and $$ to maintain them, Day’s teeth have progressed from brittle to falling out. After multiple expert opinions, she has been told that she needs over $52,000 worth of dental work performed. If not completed within the next 5 months, she will likely not have enough bone left to hold the implants.
So, our goal is to make a new smile possible for Day. A smile that she has earned to show off to all those around her. We know, that like many others, she continues to carry a heavy load of survival remorse – despite all she has been through. Our job is to remind her that she IS deserving of this help, and we know that she will continue to use her new smile to elicit some laughter, humility, and hope in those around her!

As I sit here setting up her story, I can’t help but think about all the other Go Fund Me pages I have donated to in the past. I remember donating so many small monetary gifts to strangers going though situations I could never imagine-in hopes of thinking that even a little something and a kind note might brighten someone’s day.
