Build It, And Let Them Come

Damian, Michael, Lauren and Molly are embarking on a journey to Kenya, Africa. They will be volunteering for Mama Respond International - their family owned and run not-for-profit organisation. Mama Respond International focuses on connecting students with special needs with the appropriate resources to improve and, in some cases, cure their disability. This is done in order to improve their chances of a good education. The students are currently huddled in an exceptionally small shack on the grounds of Noonkopir Township Primary School, Kitengela.

The team will join the organisation in Kenya, in the July school holidays of 2020. They wish to build a special needs unit equiped with all necessities. The special needs unit will provide a sheltered and spacious environment where the kids can find refuge in learning. The space that they dream of is essential, for it will be the only special needs unit in the whole township.

The classroom structure will cost $5000 and the interior furnishings will cost another $1000.

If the group raise $6000, not only will they build a classroom for these children, but they will also change the way the society stigmatises children with special needs.
