Immersive Art Installation for Audiobook Release!

Hello friends! As you may know, my first book, The Endlessly Forking Snake Tongue, a short work of literary nonfiction about the 2014 death of my younger brother, was published in 2019. Over the summer and fall, I embarked on a small but successful book tour in California and Arizona. I'm currently in the process of recording the audiobook, and plan to release it in late February.

In the book, I detail my unplanned move to Austin, and how integral to processing my grief that move was. To share my gratitude for my current city, I'll be hosting the audiobook release February 20th-22nd at Fancy Fancy Gallery in East Austin.

I wanted to do something a little different this time, so instead of a live reading, the audiobook will be broadcast throughout an installation I'll be constructing within the gallery. The installation will serve as a meditation on memory, grief, and dissociative daydreams, as well as a memorialization of my amazing genius brother. 

It will combine various disciplines: textiles, woodworking, and floral design, as well as light and sound design. I have crunched the numbers on this and realized that I need a little help putting this thing together monetarily, as I need lumber, fabric, paint, plaster, flowers, lights, etc. 

The event itself will be free!
