Immediate Aid to Afghan Allies in Nashville

More than two hundred of our Afghan allies have arrived in Nashville and we are expecting to receive hundreds more. Many men, women and children are landing here without a single coat or even decent shoes. This is unacceptable for those brave people who risked their lives for American troops for the last two decades. The resettlement agencies make sure that households get the bare necessities for each person: one pot, one pan, one fork, one knife, a bed, a pillow, etc. This may be enough to survive but is not nearly enough to thrive, especially for families with young children.

I have assembled an independent team of volunteers to address these immediate needs with an eye on the future needs of this deserving community. We are working around the clock to get clothes and home-goods to those who have arrived and prepare for the hundreds of people on the way. The need is great and we need help to provide the following critical services:

 

We need immediate funding for:

Coats, shoes, and warm clothes to get everyone through the winter.

Food vouchers to culturally-appropriate groceries (Halal meat).

Baby and child needs: diapers, bottles, toys, cribs.

Long-term storage space to keep donated furniture and home-goods.

Rental vehicles to transport large donations directly to families.

Transportation of families to grocery stores and Walmart.

Hot meal delivery to hotel rooms upon arrival.
