WHAT ARE WE RAISING MONEY FOR?
Paul Hitchmough and Tommy Dunne BEM collaborated to produce a song on behalf of thred Community interest Company that features poet Ronald Amanze. They all live with dementia and this is to raise money to fund the work and equipment required to help people with Dementia and their carers to connect digitally with others and the outside world to reduce loneliness and social isolation.

This would include:

1) Buying tablets
2) Developing an easy to use training session produced by people with Dementia
3) Potentially developing an easy to use app
4) Setting up a digital peer support network

This will prevent further social isolation and loneliness as these groups of people are dealing with more intense impact due to COVID-19 and shielding.

Please have a listen to the song and we would massively appreciate any donations!

THE MOTIVATION BEHIND THE SONG IN PAUL'S WORDS
'Tommy and I met Ron in London 2 years ago as we all have dementia and occasionally meet up with other groups. With Ron being a poet and myself being a musician, when Ron performed some of his work, we decided to collaborate, write the song and record his poem. The words of his poem resonate strongly with dementia; inspiring us to write the lyrics and music for it. We recorded it at Crosstown Studios in Liverpool earlier this year.

Tommy and myself formed a not-for-profit, Community interest Company with 2 former carers (Pat Broster and Louise Langham) called thred CiC last year. The funds raised from our song will go towards us helping people with dementia and their carers connect more digitally with others and the outside world. Being able to connect is important to us as we have all had and still have our own struggles and ‘Mountains to Climb’, experiencing the isolation and loneliness of living with dementia. With the current pandemic, we see it as vital for people’s mental and physical wellbeing to connect in other ways now that many can’t connect in person'.

ABOUT THRED CIC
Directors of thred CiC pictured from left to right: Tommy, Paul, Louise and Pat

thred CiC  was established a year ago.  It came together as a result of Tommy, Paul, Louise and Pat contributing voluntarily for many years to make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.  We are dedicated to empowering people living with dementia and their carers to continue to live the lives they want and to provide the best platform for them to be heard and their ideas implemented. Most of all we work to reduce the stigma of dementia which limits the opportunities for people diagnosed and to reduce the impact on carers too.  We stand alongside our peers to challenge what we feel can be better and we willingly contribute to new ideas and thinking that will inspire us to a better future.
