<div>My name is Fanuiel Eyob Habte, though I prefer to go by Rex. I am only one year away from graduating from university, but due to serious financial difficulties I may not be able to finish my degree.

<div>I’m currently behind on tuition and rent, and without urgent support I risk losing my ability to stay enrolled and complete the final year of my studies.
</div>

<div>For the past year and three months, my mother has done everything she could to send me money for my living costs, even though she herself doesn’t have a job and is barely managing to get by. During that time, I’ve tried to cover my tuition through different means, including scholarships and savings, but we’ve now reached a point where her savings are nearly gone and she can no longer support me.

<div>At the moment, during this semester, I am already two months behind on my tuition (€1,806). The next installment (€903) is due on March 25th, with three more installments upcoming after that in this academic year. My final semester before graduation starting in September will cost €4,680 in tuition. I am also currently one month behind on my rent (€325). If I’m unable to cover these costs in time, I risk being removed from my program and losing my housing. That would leave me without a stable place to stay and no way to continue my studies. The funds raised will go directly toward my overdue and upcoming tuition and my rent for a couple of months so I can remain enrolled and continue my studies. Given how time-sensitive this is, I may not have much time to resolve this before consequences take effect.

<div>As a non-EU student living in Enschede, Netherlands, it has been extremely difficult for me to find work due to the restrictions placed on international students, especially in a smaller city located at the edge of the country. I am still actively applying for jobs, but the deadlines are approaching faster than I can secure income.

<div>Returning to my home country, Eritrea, is not an option. I am a gay man, and it would be incredibly dangerous for me to live there. This is why this situation is urgent.
</div>
<div>Without immediate support, I could lose both my education and my ability to stay here safely. I am just one year away from graduating. Losing this now would mean losing years of effort and the chance to build a stable future for myself.
</div>

<div>Despite the many difficulties I’ve faced over the past four and a half years, both financially and mentally, I finally managed to get back on track with my studies in February 2026. After two years of treatment, I’ve slowly begun recovering mentally as well, and I am now on track to graduate in February or March of 2027. I would not have made it this far without my family and the incredible community I found here; my friends, my teachers, and my loving partner, all of whom have supported me through everything. The people I’ve met and the life I’ve built here have given me something I didn’t have before: a true sense of home.

<div>I don’t have many options left, and I truly cannot get through this alone anymore. With my next tuition deadline on March 25th approaching quickly, including both overdue and upcoming payments, I’m asking for any support you may be able to give.
