As you can see by her many diagnoses, Lucy has several challenges, but that hasn't stopped her from overcoming the odds and warming the hearts of everyone she meets! She has been through more in her 5 years of age, than most of us will in an entire lifetime.
With all of her challenges, we recently learned that Lucy's orthopedic challanges were more severe than we originally thought, more specifically, her scoliosis. Lucy's scoliosis is significant. She is actually on the cusp of it dangerously affecting her lung and organ space. The surgery we thought she could have to help correct this, unfortunately, is not an option for her. She is too fragile.
Her spine specialist will monitor the progression of her her scoliosis closely to insure her lungs are expanding and there is adequate space for her organs. We hope to get Lucy to the age where she can sustain a major spinal fusion surgery.
With this recent development, we are on a new path with Lucy. Our focus has been directed to her quality of life and things that bring her joy.
Her school brings her so much joy! Lucy attends a very specialized school, Chase's Place! It is the only school of its kind in the country! She receives all of her therapy at school and it is a 2:1 student-teacher ratio. It is one of the main reasons we moved all the way to Dallas! She is making great progress and she LOVES it!
Please help us raise enough money for Lucy's school tuition. She is so happy everyday!
