Iggy's Eye Surgery

Iggy has had a very scary past few days and he could use your love and support now more than ever. On Monday, 8/27/18, Iggy started experiencing strange symptoms (protrusion of his eyeball and the surrounding tissue) which resulted in him being immediately rushed to the ER by his mom. His first doctor initially suspected a reaction to a bug bite and attempted to treat it as such, and later tried to move his eye back into its socket, but was unfortunately unsuccessful due to the amount of swelling around his eye. This resulted in him being transferred to a specialty clinic (thank you VCA West LA) where he was treated around the clock by a team of amazing specialists and given a CT scan to better understand the source of the issue. It was determined that he had a severe infection, and underwent emergency surgery to remove the infected area and tissue, of which we still don’t know the cause. Iggy’s surgeons tried their best to save the vision in his left eye, but discovered his eye itself was damaged beyond saving and it had to be removed during surgery. We’re just so grateful his emergency surgery went well and can’t wait for him to be back home where he belongs.

This unexpected medical emergency has involved multiple procedures, diagnostic tests, various medications, and nearly 72 hours of hospitalization and round the clock care. We are so grateful Iggy is going to be OK because we can’t imagine life without him and would appreciate any help, big or small, in easing the financial burden of this unexpected medical emergency.
