'Supper For All' at QCCA

Tax deductible
JUNE 30th 2021. PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW:
‘Supper For All’ provides hot meals to people in one of the poorest areas of London, without stigma, question or judgement. The food is distributed from the front of our community centre in Camden.

The project started in April 2020 as part of our ‘Fight C19’ Covid emergency response. It was called 'Iftar For All' back then because it distributed Iftars during Ramadan - the meal with which Muslims break their fast during the holy month. But anyone could take the food and we were shocked when we realised that nearly 70% of the people who came weren’t fasting – they were just hungry. We've been serving ever since.

We distribute up to 750 healthy, nutritious meals a week. We see families, elderly people on their own, people with no cooking facilities, asylum seekers from a nearby hostel and many homeless. Most get no support anywhere else. We chat to them as they pick up their meals and often find out about their problems. Increasingly, we are able to stop their issues from getting worse by directing them to our Advice and Guidance service (a referral they would not have sought themselves).

It's a vital service in so many ways and any donation you can make would be brilliant. £2.50 will cover the cost of one meal. £10 will feed a family of four. £75 would feed one person for the whole month. £300 would feed a family.

JUNE 30th 2021 UPDATE: Supper for All has developed greatly since we launched this campaign, just as life during Covid has. We're currently still running a food service, but it's been heavily reduced. We still give out takeaway 'Lockdown Lunches' and extra food when we have it, twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1pm outside the centre. We also distribute some food parcels once a week. However the service is likely to close soon (to all but a handful of very vulnerable people) while we review the current need and how to respond to it. We're still taking donations and will prioritise using them for food. But any extra money generously donated will be used for our other services.

Best wishes and please continue to stay safe,

The QCCA Team.
