If I Could Walk Away From Me - Support Fund

(note: some people are wondering why GoFundMe lists my location as NZ. I don't know why, either! My guess is that GoFundMe only recognises postcodes entered in the American 5-digit format and when you enter a 4-digit postcode, the site's coding scrambles it. I've tried troubleshooting with GoFundMe, but so far I haven't found a way to fix this.)

Hi, everyone! Thanks for visiting my GoFundMe. This is a terrifying and humiliating experience for me and I’d prefer to protect my privacy, but I don’t have any other options left, so try to be considerate if you can. 

This is a last-ditch effort to raise money desperately needed for various gender-confirming surgeries (GCS); specifically surgeries that might allow me to “pass” as normal in public like facial feminisation surgeries (v-line surgery, philtrum reduction surgery, chondrolaryngoplasty/tracheal shave) and voice feminisation surgery (VFSRAC). These are all elective, out-of-pocket, and largely can't be performed in Australia. I’ve included a breakdown of the approximate costs below. SRS and other procedures are also necessary, but that’s a problem for another day, so it's not included in the breakdown.

I’ve been trying to save up for these surgeries by myself for over ten years and it’s pretty clear that this route isn’t leading anywhere. What little I’ve been able to save in the past needed to go to just getting the ball rolling in transitioning (specialists, HRT,  electrolysis, IPL, scarring treatment, etc.) and it's been an endless, hopeless Sisyphean task where nothing ever moves forward or changes. I can't do this by myself anymore, so I'm asking you to help.

The initial goal amount is set to $8,000. With this much support, my dream of being able to live in safety might actually come true. One day I might even have a normal life. Since the GoFundMe style guide suggests emphasising the positive instead of the negative, I won't into details about what life is like presently and how even basic life tasks like walking down the street or interacting with another human being for a few minutes are tainted with disgust, discrimination and the constant looming threat of harassment and violence. Oops!
