If love could pay the bills

Alexa is my best friend in the entire world and she is more than just an amazing friend but a devoted dog mom as well. I am doing this because i have watched her for the past four months, not even bat an eye when one of her babies have needed treatment. Beginning in December of 2017 her baby girl Lilly became sick with cancer and fought hard for a month until the ugly disease (along with secondary illness) took her from Alexa. Lilly underwent multiple ultrasounds, was on fluid therapy, put on multiple drugs, she needed radiographs, whatever it was, you name it, and Alexa never thought twice about it. Anything for her girl. She is still reminded of all of the treatments with the bill she is currently facing at her home hospital. Just because we work in the field does not mean that our pets are free. Flash forward to 2 days ago.  I came home to find her other baby, Ham (aka Sammy) covered in his own vomit. He was acting abnormally and you could tell something was off. He is now at the emergency hospital where he has spent the last two days on fluid therapy, pain medication and waiting for an ultrasound. Blood work results show something is very wrong but the only way to truly know what is going on is an ultrasound. Until then we have no idea what is causing his liver to make him so sick. His gallbladder is enlarged, his liver is enlarged, he may have pancreatitis, there was talk of a mass. Nothing else can be done until we have results of an ultrasound. His pain management and fluid therapy along with diagnostics at the emergency hospital are double what it would cost at a general practice. He needs round the clock care and Alexa still hasn’t thought twice, anything he needs. This isn’t the end all be all but I have watched her go to hell and back the past 4 months and honestly I feel helpless but if I can help her in anyway I’ll do it. This is my best friend and if this is what i can do to help ease some pain, I will.
