The day Angel was born should have been the happiest day of my life, unfortunatelly it wasn’t.

When I was 5 months pregnant during my ultrasound doctors had diagnosed my son with Hyploplastic Left Heart Syndrome.Even though they had confirmed it, I was still unable to belive what they told me, I prayed,I cried, and spent long night un able to sleep thinking about it.As time passed and it was getting closer for me to give birth I finally came to the point where I had to choose an option from the one the docters gave me. 1. Abortion 2. Heart Transplant 3.Reconstructive Heart Surgery that consists of a least three surgeries. The first two I sure did not want, so I opted to have the reconstructive heart surgeries.

ANGEL’S LIFE

As soon as I gave birth to my son they immediately put him on Protaglanding to keep his PDA open, Just 2 hours after his birth he got moved over to the Children’s Hospital Colorado.

5 days after he was born Angel went in to his 1st open heart surgery, called Norwood on December 21,2011. It lasted just about 8 hours, and our stay was 1 ½ months long. After being out for at least 3 months he went in for his 2nd surgery called Glenn on May 14, 2012, it was just as long as the first one but our stay at the hospital was or 2 ½ weeks.

Every thing was going so well for 1 year and 7 months until our life went upside down.On January 29, 2014 we had to rush to the ER. As we were getting seen by the nurse she saw his oxygen leval was really low, he wasn’t his normal color, he just looked so sick that they immediately took us back. After a while they told me we were getting admitted.

On January 30th around 5pm my son went in to the OR for a temporary pacemaker.the pacemaker wasn’t working that right , so they took him back for a cath, during the cath they found that Angel had a blood clot in his heart .They immediately took him back to the OR to remove the blood clot. After 12 hours of being concerned they were finally finshed. Once they came out and were getting him comfortable then they noticed something wrong with his leg so he went back in to the OR for a fasciotomy. We thought everything was going well on February 1, 2014 he had to go back in for a permanent pacemaker. After having to stay in the hospital for 2 months , we finally got to go home, but little did we know that Angel was going to get sick after just one day. We came back in to the hospital to see what was wrong anf they told us his heart rhythm was irregular, so we were getting readmited.

During are 2nd stay at the hospital, they finally told us my son has a heart failure and he needs a heart transplant. On Feb 26,2014  my son was put on the transplant list called UNOS he was listed as an 1A.Our stay was for about a month . Since then it’s been really hard for us having to be in and out the hospitaldue to him having lots of fluid in his lung.

We are very happy that on november 15 we  got the call we were waiting for after so long we had already got a doner. Angel went in for his transplant at 12:20pm on the 16th of november the surgery took 10 hours long.
once we though every thing was well a few hours latter my son had to got back in to surgery to reconstract his arterie going from his heart to his lung it took just about 2 hours.

A few days latter they were leting him wake up from surgery so they can remove his brething tube. I was so happy to finally hear him cry and ask for juice after 3 days.

On december 5 we got discharged from the hospital hoping everything goes well and he stops having all these high feavers
