My name is Nikole and I created this Go Fund Me page on behalf of all of the parents on the "05 Timberwolves for Anthony and Lexie Alfonsi and their parents. I have had the privilege of meeting this special family through my son, Jonathan. They have played on the same hockey team for a year and a half. Anthony is 9 and Lexie is 6. Anthony is a sweet boy who loves to play sports; especially hockey. Lexie is a wonderful little 6 year old girl who adores the movie Frozen. Anthony's dad, Denny, helps coach the team and their mom, Beth, is a teacher and is always volunteering to help others. Over Thanksgiving Lexie needed to have emergency surgery to have a mass removed from her ovary. She also had to have her ovary removed. Lexie came out of the hospital on the Monday after Thanksgiving. That Monday night we had hockey practice, during practice another player fell on Anthony's leg. He broke his tibia and was in an incredible amount of pain. So that same day the Alfonsis got to take their daughter, Lexie, home from the hospital turned out being the same day they had to take their son, Anthony in. Anthony's leg has to be monitored very closely with frequent visits to the doctor to get the bone x-rayed. They need to make sure that the bone is heeling properly and watch the growth of the other leg bone. If the leg does not continue to heal properly he will need to have his leg rebroke and have pins added to his leg. Today at practice I asked Anthony's dad how the kids were doing. (Yes, they are a very dedicated family. Denny, dad, still comes to practice and games to help coach while mom takes care of these very special kids. )Denny told me Anthony is doing better since they increased his pain medicine and Lexie is doing good, but will need to start chemo in a week. They did a biopsy of the mass they took off her ovary and found cancer. Now this 6 year old girl will be starting chemo five days a week for the next couple of weeks. Then have the holidays off and return to chemo for atleast 2 moretime for 5 days a week intensive chemo treatment. These kids could really use a Christmas and our team is already having a fundraiser, but I would like to ask as many people as can read this for your help. Could you help with a donation of money to the Alfonsis? They really could use our help right now. Mom and Dad are going to have to take time off work for daily chemo treatments for Lexie and helping Anthony get around. Both kids are out of school right now. This family would never ask for help because they always feel there is someone else out there that needs help more than they do. But I am asking for them, could you please donate a couple dollars to help Lexie and Anthony have a Merry Christmas? Could you donate a couple dollars to help mom and dad with gas to get them to and from chemo every day at Children's Hospital and bills from the hospital bills that are not covered fully by insurance?
I know it seems like this story is made up because who would think - how could so much bad happen to one family. But it has and I am asking for help on their behalf. I only posted the back of Anthony on this page because I want his mom and dad to ok any other pictures of their children that get added.
