IDEA Rundberg Academy Holiday Donations

This year has presented many challenges to those working in education. COVID has left families without many of the basic needs, and we as a school often find ourselves providing food and clothing. Our Leaders, Teachers and Staff have met with countless families who have spoken about losing their loved ones to COVID and being without a job. This has been an incredibly challenging year for many of them.

98 percent of our families at IDEA Rundberg Academy qualify for free and reduced lunch. COVID has affected Black and Latino families at an alarmingly high rate, and 98 percent of our students are students of color. We recognize that the purpose of a school is not just to educate, but to provide our kids and families with the tools they need to survive and thrive outside of our walls.

We currently offer in person instruction and I find that many of the families who opt into in person instruction are enduring tremendous financial hardship. Our school wants to help them as the holidays approach. We are aiming to provide a Thanksgiving meal for every in person family through an HEB gift card. Any additional funds we collect, will be used to purchase coats for students when it gets cold or a gift at the holidays.
