ICT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Nasco IT World is an initiative designed by Banasco a student of the University of Ghana who by virtue of a brother who illegally migrated to Spain has been able to support my education. In our bid to render similar support to students of this deprived area we stated from, we will develop a world class, globally competitive, flexible and value based I.C.T education system that is responsive to the individual, institutional and social development needs of the students and people of deprived communities in Sawla in particular and Ghana at large.

"My name is Ousman Umar with assistance of my brother Banasco Seidu Nuhu and with your help we are hoping to open an ICT center to train and equip the poor Ghanaian student with knowledge in IT.
To many people Information Communication Technology is a lifeline that makes it possible for inventions improved standards of living. Together with the district education service we have started work on the establishment of an ICT center specifically for use in the district. Every student who takes a course with us will acquire adequate knowledge and skills necessary for favorable completion as a 21st century student.
At the heart of The ICT Center is an important balance of give and take - once graduated, students will be able to use the knowledge and skills acquired to develop soft ware's, teach others as well as apply it in other areas of study, knowing that it will help to change someone's life.
We've partnered with The District Education Service, the education provider of the district. The district will provide a well-trained and a professional teacher who will oversee and teach the students. The students as well will be taken through a series of hardware lessons and workshops. This will well equip our students into full fleshed IT experts. In addition to the courses & workshop, a library with IT books and all necessary materials will be stocked to enhance teaching and learning. We want to make Information Communication Technology as accessible as possible.
Now, to get the project up and running we are crowd funding The ICT Center using people fund and that's why we need your help.
We have got the structure, but have not got anything to fill it with - We need to buy computers and accessories, furniture, white board and markers and books to stock the library and a full complement of computer tools.
By pledging £500 you are buying a computer which will be of use to thousands of poor and deprived students. But that's not the only way that you can help; we are offering rewards for any amount you pledge and or any form of assistance would be welcomed to ensure that determined but deprived students can be resourced to join the global competition.

When will we start?
If we reach our funding goal then we expect to be able to open The ICT Center and start teaching people in July 2012. NASCO I T WORLD will open its first ICT centre in July 2012, at the start of the academic year. We have therefore enumerated a number of feasible and practical steps towards the success of the project. We would be grateful if you could render us support in order to bring this project to fruition.
How will the Center be like?
We are going to set up a standard ICT center in the heart of Sawla the district capital.
The ICT Center will be equipped with a full suite of Computers and accessories; we will have a library with lots of computer books you can think of.
Aside from being used to provide designed courses for the students, the center will be open all evenings and weekend to all students for personal studies and completion of project work.
What are our set objectives?
· To develop a world class, globally competitive, flexible and value based I.C.T education system that is responsive to the individual, institutional and social development needs of the people of the Republic of Ghana.
· To help children, especially underprivileged students, develop their talents and potential through extra I.C.T lessons.
· To help develop numerous fully equipped I.C.T centres in various schools over the years.
· NASCO IT WORLD is primed to produce School Learning Solutions, which offers turnkey I.C.T integration programs for schools and will provide computer-based learning to nearly 7.8 million students in over 9,500 government and private schools in Ghana in a few years time.
Our Target Community
We hope to improve the lives of the rural based people via education paramount among which is ICT. Most communities in Ghana are rural hence their schools best to be described as less privileged. Sawla is the district capital of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District in the northern region of Ghana. District has a population of about fifty thousand (50,000) with about eighteen thousand (18,000) at the basic school level (Primary and Junior High School). The predominant occupation is farming (cereals and yam), animal rearing and trading.
How the center will be structured?
The curricular would follow the educational design of the Ghana Education Service. The center as well will fall within the school's subject structured system. The ICT Center will be strictly managed by Nasco IT World which will constantly upgrade both the human and capital resource needs of the center.
Why build an ICT Center for our target population?
It is a fact that, information is very vital in this 21st century, the amount of information available to an individual defines his/her power and influence. It is worthy of note that education is the key to success and self-improvement. The illiteracy rate is so alarming that it requires social and benevolent intervention to savage the situation. Education will inevitably eradicate the obnoxious cultural practices and IT knowledge will bring innovation and craftsmanship. The ICT center will be instrumental in building the human resource needs of the area in particular and Ghana at large.
Why will we establish the center for free?
Education, just like any human or natural resource is very expensive to extract and/ or develop. However, very essential to the human capacity building process. It is in this vain that we seek to intervene in building the necessary human resource for the development of the Ghanaian economy. Our target community is a rural-based less endowed school which solely depends on governmental social intervention schemes for improvement. The community lacks capital to start an initiative of self-support and improvement.
We are going to make Information Communication Technology more accessible, and we are going to help some people in need at the same time.
Are we a Business or Charity?
Nasco IT World is not a Charity, its being set up as a for-profit Ltd company with a social conscience and giving at its core. This allows us to grow a sustainable business rather than depending upon grants for support.
We will establish an ICT center and open a library so we will teach people skills and provide workshop facilities but we also want to do something really good for people in need. That's why we're working closely with the District Education Service to assist with structures and well trained teaching personnel.
Who are we?
We are brothers from this said community, who upon an appreciable amount of improvement wish to support students acquire knowledge and development, hence our initiative of Nasco IT World. NASCO IT WORLD is a newly qualified I.C.T education. NASCO IT proficiency spans both the I.C.T education and I.C.T-assisted training domains. NASCO IT WORLD is fully equipped with a wide and comprehensive collection of educational programs that touches the lives of our clients and students, with specific training needs to individuals looking for I.C.T skills. Banasco is a level 400 student of the University of Ghana with an innate enthusiasm for communal and societal service. I have offered several voluntary services to individuals and organizations. I have a passion for ICT and wish to see these young and poor students grasp its concepts in their academic pursuit.
Ousman is a brother in Spain who upon lack of opportunity to education migrated to Spain and is a bachelor student in the (University of Barcelona). His experience has crafted the passion of helping relief the stress students here have to go through in their quest for academic excellence especially in ICT.
Where are we?
The ICT center will be set up at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic cluster of schools, Sawla. Sawla is district capital of the area and is central to the rest of the Junior High and Primary schools.

Why do we need you?

Well, while we've got the skills and drive to make this happen we don't have enough money to fund the establishment of the center. We've got Nasco IT World this far and we know that once the ICT center is established it will be a wonderful place that we will all be able to benefit from, but we need your help and backing to make that happen.
