I have been friends with Arie Luster since high school. Arie is the nicest and most giving person I have had the privilege to know. Her strength and love for others warms my heart and encourages me every day. I am so proud to call her sister and blessed to have her in my life.
In March 2010 Arie was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and immediately underwent 6 months of chemo therapy. Although it was extremely challenging, Arie always remained positive and rooted in Christ. She was confident that God would bring her through and that she was in good hands with the doctors at Piedmont Hospital. In November 2010, Arie completed her last chemo treatment. After follow up tests, Arie doctor pronounced her cancer free!
Unfortunately, in September of 2012 Arie was informed that the cancer was back and that it moved to a few lymph nodes on her lower abdomen. Although disappointed Arie still remains strong and positive. She knows what to expect and believes that her going through this rough time will help to encourage someone else. Now, having undergone chemo for almost two consecutive years she is ready to try a new approach in addition to chemo.
Arie started the the "I Choose" campaign to share her story, help promote colon cancer awareness, as well as raise funding for an alternative cancer treatment.
