Iceland Expedition 2020

Halló!

We are the University of Glasgow Iceland Expedition team of 2020! This summer we are travelling north to Skálanes Nature and Heritage Centre in Iceland's East Fjords to do vital research on Atlantic Puffins, Arctic foxes, and seabirds. Your support will help protect these species from the effects of man-made pollution and a changing climate.

Armed with binoculars, waterproof note pads, a strong work ethic and a sense of humour, we will help combat ecological threats by increasing scientific knowledge and public understanding of the effects of climate change and pollution. Through the research done on  the expedition, our team of six young scientist intend to:

· Add to global scientific understanding of biodiversity, animal behaviour, and man-made environmental effects in Iceland.

· Educate others about nature and the importance of sub-arctic ecosystems such as Iceland.

· Increase awareness of the effects of pollution and climate change on animals like the Atlantic puffin and Arctic fox.

Your contribution will not only help protect wild animals and unique ecosystems, but will also support young researchers develop vital skills that will help them succeed in their future careers such as teamwork, communication, and commitment. The expedition also offers the opportunity to work alongside skilled and passionate researchers from all over the world, and supports a community of passionate people committed to working together to protect wildlife and create a world we can all live in.

Your gift is an investment in animals and young people, and your financial support will help protect animals and support vital ecosystems.

This expedition is run as a part of the University of Glasgow Exploration Society, which has demonstrated a standard of excellence in undergraduate research worldwide since 1920. The Iceland Expedition 2020 continues the Society's commitment to international cooperation, scientific excellence, and environmental responsibility.
