Elven Unity: Help Koi In Iceland!
Final Update! its my last week here! It's your last chance to get a postcard and also to help me eat something other than white rice and not have to lose my luggage to airline extortion! You all rock! Wooo!
*Update Jan 12*: taxi from airport was twice what expected and a large storm trapped us a few days shortly after arrival.... now very low on food! As much as I wanted to do other things while here, survival and return are now the priorities! It is still, however, very nice to have a safe, quiet, uninterrupted period of painting and writing amidst gorgeous scenery. I cannot adequately express the degree to which I needed this! Thank you!
MAJOR UPDATE*: I am headed off to Laugarvatn as of January 2, 2015. You are not too late to support, and this campaign will remain running, as I still need transit fare et al to get around and accomplish goals while I am there. I would really like to make it to the Icelandic witchcraft museum, which is several hours north of the farm on which I am staying, for example. :) Any help is appreciated. THANK YOU!!!
I have devoted a good portion of my life to the independent study of folklore and mythology, particular in regards to the creatures modern westerners refer to as "elves" [both as the '"fae" - little or secret peoples of various lands - and as mysterious "beings of light"]. This devotion has fruited extensively in the form of visual and written works, and there are more to come.
Recently, I was invited to study the huldufolk ["hidden people"] of Iceland on their native soil at Laugarvatn [at the Gullkistan Center for Creativity]. I am not sure if I will find any to interview or sit for a drawing session for me, but I would certainly like to try! Iceland's climate is absolutely my "type" and the terrain of Laugarvatn looks ideal for inspiration.
This opportunity unfortunately came a little too soon on the heels of some devastation in my life for me to be ready - I don't currently have a valid passport, even. I need to work fast - I only have until the 15th of December to have my reservation paid, and I need that passport ASAP! [IMPORTANT UPDATE! I still need transit fare and some incidental coverage for this and that but for the most part, this trip is going to happen! I still can't believe it!! THANK YOU!!!!]

Added some wiggle room for price changes on airfare, various cab fares/gas money/rideshares and incidentals on 11/24/14]
