IBR's Big Birdhouse Build

We are super excited to announce we are growing!
IBR is expanding, and we need your support.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 over the next 6 months.
This will cover the cost of a 12ft x 24ft free standing building to house and care for wild birds that come into our care. This includes the cost of the building, ground preparation, delivery and set up, electrical, insulation, flooring, lighting, and any finishing touches to get it ready for birds!
We must have the money raised by March because that is when the 2020 baby bird season will begin, and we need to be ready!

Why is this so important to us?
Iowa Bird Rehabilitation (IBR) has grown from admitting just over 100 birds to almost 800 birds per year from the Des Moines/Metro area in just seven short years. The need has outgrown our current facilities and we are in critical need of more space, more volunteers, and more funding. IBR is raising money to fund a movable building. This new building will provide a place to house injured and/or orphaned wild birds while they are being rehabilitated. Currently, all birds we receive are cared for in the homes of our licensed rehabilitators, which limits the number of volunteers we can have and the hours they can come. With the increase in numbers each year, limited space, and limited number of volunteers we can currently handle, it has become increasingly difficult to provide the birds with the intensive care they require. The new building will allow IBR to have more volunteers involved with caring for wild birds, allowing us to continue to provide care for the hundreds of wild birds that are brought to us each year by our community.
Having more space, separate from our private homes, is critical for us to continue the work we are doing.
