Ian struck by sudden blindness

I have created this page as I sadly share the news that Ian Murray has lost his sight and despite surgery and treatment he remains legally blind. The best prognosis is that he could possibly regain some vision, but he will still remain legally blind. 

Those of you who have met Ian will have experienced his joy for life, his passion for photography and his selfless generosity in sharing that passion with friends and students. Even if you never met Ian, it is my hope that upon hearing his story you will be moved to assist in this fundraising campaign.

Many of you reading this have attended one of the hundreds of classes Ian offered each year, and possibly benefitted from discounted fees or received a free spot that in a class because you could not afford it.

Possibly you are one of the budding photographers who benefitted from Ian’s mentoring and teaching that have gone on to a successful photography career.

Ian loved combining his love of music with photography. You may be one of the musicians that received photographs for from Ian for use on your album covers and publicity material.

You may not know another side of Ian.  He has devoted considerable time and energy to facilitating conflict resolution workshops, trainings and conferences globally. 

The loss of his sight immediately robbed him of his ability to earn his living. His income is now reduced to Social Security Disability benefits.  The situation is made even more difficult for him because of his strong desire to refund money to several students who paid in advance for classes he is unable to provide.

If the goal is met, Ian will repay students and settle the lease on his studio. Any funds in excess of the goal will be used for adaptive equipment to improve the quality of his life.

Please help by donating whatever you can to meet the goal of $18,000.00.
