My name is Gabriel Vargas and I graduated from Florida Virtual High School in June, 2014. I am a baseball player and soon will become a college student.
I grew up with my mom, she is the most important person in my life. Even though my Bella and Bello (grandparents), Aunts and Uncle were all an important part of my childhood, my mom is the one that has pushed me to be a good person, a hard worker and always go after my dreams.
My dream includes playing professional baseball and obtaining a college degree. This would be the next task on my list of goals. Accomplishing my dreams has not been an easy journey. Two years ago, I was playing in a baseball game and I tore a ligament in my elbow. My mom did not allow me to become negative. She made sure we were able to see the best doctors possible to ensure that I was well taken care of, causing my mom to incur a large debt of medical expenses.
After seeing the effort and hard work, she had to endure to make sure all our bills were paid and I was well taken care of. Even with all the negativity and nay sayers, she never gave up on me. She showed me that with the appropriate rehabilitation and physical therapy, the solution was in our hands to solve. With a lot of hard work and a positive mind, we were able to make it over this first hurdle.
Upon my return to baseball, I have excelled in all areas. Allowing me the opportunity to be accepted to Bunker Hill College in Boston, Massachusetts. I will begin classes and playing baseball in January 2015.
I know that the holidays are upon us and that we could all use a little extra change in our pockets; but if there is anything you can donate towards my education, I would deeply appreciate it. You are not just giving me $1, $5, or $20 (Your generosity is unbelievable!) you are giving me a college education and the tools that I will need to be successful in my career and assist me in pursuing my dream of playing professional baseball.
