The Business: I am seeking investors to take a chance on my dream to start my own extreme (ly fun) sports company. My intention is to start small and conservatively, with just 5 paddle boards, a lake, and no employees, in order to keep overhead so low that success and profit will be all but guaranteed.
By employing the free advertising of between five and ten daily deal sites, as well as advertising though my extensive network though meetup.com and word of mouth, I conservatively expect earn between $210 and $420 during warm months, based on earning an average of $7/hr after various discounts to attract new customers, although the actual numbers could be much higher. And I expect to expand well beyond just paddle bards to other activities less dependent on warm weather, although the summer would always represent peak months of operation. In a few years I expect to earn more though this venture than though my teaching career.
A Little About Me: I have been a non-union teacher for 14 years, never earning more than $40K a year. Still, though my many side jobs (I once operated a highly profitable tutoring business before the Great Recession, and I manage multiple nights of pick-up and league volleyball), I have managed to amass four profitable rental homes. I also founded and run the first and now largest pick-up sports group in Michigan. All of my success came from hard work, patience, and slowly growing my various ventures.
My commitment: I will start this business with or without the assistance of gofundme, and in all probability, in the long run, I could amass more money through self-financing. But I'm approaching this as yet another adventure, another way to advertise my new business and find new customers, and another way to give back to everyone who believes in me and my dream.
