Help Johnella. Help our community!

This is my friend and classmate, Johnella La Rose. She is from the Shoshone Tribe in Idaho, but lives here in the Bay Area. I met Johnella in one of my Ethnic Studies classes at Mills College: the school we both attend. Johnella shared store of grass roots activism that were powerful, inspiring, and she shared them with a deep level of humility. Johnella is the sort of activist that does the heavy lifting. She seeks no acccolades, in fact she often shys away from them. She just seeks to be an agent of change, even if no one notices. But I notice her, and learn from her, as do the countless other people who have heard of her work from fracking, to water, to midwifery, nuclear warfare, etc. Johnella became active with the American Indian Movement (AIM) when she was 14 years old. She (hand) wrote them a letter, concerned about nuclear warfare, and thus began her life of activism. Johnella is a mother, and a grandmother. She is also a full-time student at Mills College, where she is working on completing her Bachelors Degree.

Unfortunately Johnella's Geo Prism has been deemed a "gross polluter," and very soon, she will no longer be able to get to and from her home to school. She needs a car, and this is where you come in. We are looking to raise $3500 so that Johnella can get a used car that is safe for her, and our environment that she works tirelessly to advocate for. Johnella has worked tirelessly to try and preserve natural resources, she has worked as a midwife with a group of other Native women in the 80's, to make sure that birth with dignity and agency was an option for the mamas in her communities. When there is a need to be met, she is the first one to sign up and do the heavy lifting.

Johnella needs a car, and I want to support her in getting one. This is where you come in. I am asking for financial support so that Johnella has a safe and running car. No amount is too small. I realize that not everyone has access to funds to donate. I want to honor your struggle, and only give as much and if you can. I am also asking you to share this campaign in hope that we can reach the goal of $3500, sooner than later.

Will you support this campaign and support Johnella is being able to get around, continue to do her work, and finish her education?

I am asking you to pay it forward for our elder.
