My Sister Needs A Handicap Van
My sister was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after her second child. Nineteen years later the challenge of caring for my sister has become increasingly more difficult.
She is a single mother to three amazing children. Her two sons spend their life's in school and work as well as trying to care for their mother.
Her only daughter who is now 16 struggles with her own health issues. Her heart condition has affected her life in many ways including loss of hearing.
My sister and her family face obstacles that few can imagine on an daily basis. She is permanently bound to a wheelchair and relies on medical equipment and aids to help her with her every day routine. Most recently my sister's handicap van has been deemed unfit and unfixable. Without this van she is not able to make her appointments, support her daughter at school events or make it to church. Essentially my sister has become homebound.
As her older sister I feel it is my place to help in any way I can. Although I am not in the position to buy her a van the best effort I can make is to share her story.
