Kathy's Post Surgery Help-Fund!

We care about Kathy Winkert of Cazenovia NY 13035 and the difficult times she has been going through, so we are trying to help! If you care about Kathy too, and are able to donate to help fulfill her needs, we know she will be extremely grateful.
Kathy is scheduled for extensive spinal surgery on December 10. Unfortunately, this past August, her back suddenly "gave out" due to arthritic changes, severe stenosis and degenerative disk disease. She has struggled with a painful, disabling and fatiguing illness since the 1980's, but persevered and managed to live independently. But she's had a very difficult time functioning since the back injury and her recovery from this surgery may be more difficult due to her pre existing illnesses.
As we all know, most health insurance only covers the surgery and most medications. Because Kathy exists on SS Disability as her only source of income, she doesn't have the funds to hire people to do the things she usually does herself. These include shoveling, plowing, animal care, house cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and other errands, transportation to PT, meal prep, and personal care as needed. There are also some safety upgrades that should be made to the house, such as tightening the existing banister going upstairs, and adding a railing to the other side. Also grab bars in the bathroom and shower. She has had 2 falls walking on the lawn between the house and car, and we need to look into a way to make it safer. Her surgeon also recommended a new, firmer mattress, since the one she is using is 21 years old.
We are hoping to reach $3500, but every dollar helps and is appreciated. Kathy knows this is asking a lot from her friends and family, and would appreciate your prayers and good thoughts in addition to money or instead if you are unable to donate.
We look forward to seeing Kathy up and walking without pain and weakness in 2015!
